Why pigment sticks after 40
Pigment is not random. Melanocytes (the cells that make melanin) respond to UV, heat, inflammation, and hormonal shifts. After 40, cell turnover slows. What used to shed quietly can linger. Estrogen changes can nudge melasma or uneven tone. Years of Texas sun stack upeven if you’ve been diligentbecause damage is cumulative, not seasonal.

What Ultra LaseMD actually does
At Beautiful Aesthetics, we use Lutronic’s laseMD Ultra (you’ll also hear Ultra LaseMD)—a non-ablative fractional thulium laser. In plain language: it creates thousands of tiny, precise channels in the skin. Those controlled micro-injuries cue your body to renew, support collagen, and help clear excess pigment while refining texture and tone.
It addresses age spots, sun damage, fine lines, and uneven tone; reduces the look of pigmentation and sun damage; and can improve the appearance of certain scars. It’s used on face and body, suitable for a range of skin types, year-round, with minimal downtime—which matters when your life doesn’t pause for a week of recovery.
A useful detail: Ultra’s 1927 nm wavelength is well absorbed by water in the skin, which is why it’s particularly thoughtful for pigment-focused work. We also offer a series of three when the goal is progressive clarity over roughly three months.
This is not a miracle eraser in one afternoon. It is thoughtful resurfacing: gentler than aggressive ablative lasers, more targeted than just try another brightening serum.”
Why “wait it out often fails
Hoping pigment will politely leave on its own usually means slower turnover keeps discoloration visible longer, ongoing sun refreshes the signal, and hormonal or inflammatory triggers keep the pattern active.
